Foreign pitcher Sean Morimando, who won the combined championship but failed to renew the contract, found a new team.
On the 24th, Morimando uploaded a photo of himself wearing a Taiwan Professional Baseball (CPBL) Chongxin Brothers uniform with the content 먹튀검증 “See you all soon” on his SNS. Taiwan’s ‘Liberty Sports’ reported, “At the end of last year, general manager Zhongxin announced that he had agreed to sign a contract with Morimando for the 2023 season, and he will return for his third season in Taiwan.”
There has been no official announcement from the club, but Morimando himself uploaded photos and comments on social media, confirming it.
Morimando has a deep relationship with the chief minister. He spent more time in the minors than the majors, and signed with the midfielders after being released by the Miami Marlins. At the end of the 2021 season, he played for Central Shin and re-signed for the 2022 season. And he recorded good results in the CPBL in the 2022 season with 7 wins and 5 losses and an ERA of 2.56.
While he was active in Taiwan, he was caught on the radar network of SSG Landers. At the beginning of the 2022 season, SSG was looking for a replacement foreign pitcher due to Ivan Nova’s sluggishness. The first priority for replacement recruitment was pitchers from the United States, but it was not easy to recruit due to practical problems, so they turned their eyes to Taiwan and recruited Morimando.
Morimando, who joined ahead of the second half, faithfully fulfilled his role. He went 7-1 with a 1.67 earned run average in 12 regular season games, and Morrie Mando filled in in the second half when Wilmer Font was physically exhausted. Unfortunately, the sluggish performance in the Korean Series made the club worry, and in the end, SSG chose a pitcher with more outstanding skills than Morimando after much consideration.
Morimando, who failed to renew the contract with SSG, headed back to Taiwan. Zhong Xin, who wore the uniform last year, reached out to continue his career in Taiwan.
