Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) took the lead by one stroke in the third round of the Genesis Scottish Open (total prize money of $9 million) co-hosted by the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.
In the third round of the tournament held at Scotland’s The Renaissance Club (par 70, 7237 yards), he recorded 5 birdies and 2 bogeys, reducing 3 strokes to finish the game with a median total of 13 under par 197 strokes.
Ironically, in an interview ahead of the tournament, Rory McIlroy said, “The worst thing about this tournament is trying to get ahead.”
However, there is no such good opportunity for McIlroy, who has yet to 스포츠토토add a trophy since winning Dubai (Hero Dubai Desert Classic) in January.
McIlroy finished the match with a one-stroke lead over Kim Joo-hyung, and faced the final round with a two-stroke lead over Tommy Fleetwood (England) and Brian Harman (USA).
After the game, he said, “It was another really good round,” and said, “I think I’ve been playing quite satisfactorily for the past three days.”
McIlroy added, “I’m focusing as much as I can on how to withstand the pressure of playing tomorrow in the final group of champions.”
I mentioned the pressure of playing in the last group on the last day, but McIlroy is notorious for not giving up easily, having won 8 of 12 of his 12 starts on the PGA Tour by the third round.
He expressed his situation in a funny way, saying, “It is an opportunity to earn points in both tours at the same time,” and “It feels like throwing a single stone and catching several birds.”
Meanwhile, Kim Joo-hyung, who played in the same group, took 3 birdies without a bogey and recorded a median total of 12 under par 198 strokes, rising to second place by one stroke.
Kim Joo-hyung said, “A successful par putt in the 18th hole was his best finish.”
Ahn Byeong-hoon reduced one stroke in the third round and tied for 5th place with Scotty Scheffler (USA) and Shane Lowry (Ireland) with an intermediate total of 10 under par and 200 strokes.
In the last round, the tee-off time was extended as bad weather was expected in the area. Joohyung Kim, along with Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood, depart at 4:57 PM Korean time.
