Brooke Henderson (Canada) was the protagonist of the opening match of the 2023 LPGA tour. With this win, Henderson achieved 13 career victories on the LPGA Tour.
On the 23rd (Korean time), 스포츠토토 the LPGA Tour Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions (total prize money of $1.5 million) ended at the Lake Nona Golf and Country Club (par 72) in Orlando, Florida, USA. Henderson won the championship with a final total of 16 under par 272. The winning prize was 225,000 dollars (approximately 270 million won).
This is a tournament that Henderson particularly wanted to win. Henderson has been close to winning this event so far, but has missed it every time. He has never been pushed outside the top 10, and last year he even managed to finish in the sole runner-up.
“This week is unbelievable,” said Henderson, who won in just his fifth appearance. The round with the amateurs was also really fun. In particular, many fans came from his hometown of Canada. It’s nice to be able to start the new year in a good mood.”
The win brought Henderson her 13th career win on the LPGA Tour. Henderson entered the LPGA Tour in 2015 after winning the Portland Classic after qualifying on Monday. At the time, he was 18 years old. In 2016, he lifted his first major championship trophy at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and also succeeded in winning two straight Portland Classics. Henderson has continued to show steady appearances every year since then, accumulating victories. Last year’s Evian Championship was his second major victory.
Henderson has undergone major changes this year. He replaced the ping clubs he had been using with tailor made clubs. Henderson said, “I was encouraged by seeing his grandmother through so many changes.” He continued, “Her grandmother has been through a lot over the past few weeks and I have seen her get through it. I wanted to be like that too. It feels really good to be able to win 13 times on the LPGA Tour,” he added.
